Social Media is a Tool

About five days before my most recent bleed, I began to experience one of those headaches, body aches and stress tension. They originally started right after I got bit by that mosquito back in October 2022.

And that headache, neck pain, and then mental anguish, stood with me until day 13 of my cycle.

Throughout this time I had sat down to meditate and thought about the idea of really investing more time and energy into a blog on my website - considering I fucking pay to have this shit every month and people barely check it out.

As well as investing more time into YouTube videos because let’s face it a lot of the other platforms have come and gone, Instagram and TikTok could turn into another Facebook and Myspace one day. And there goes tons of content I’ve spent years creating and curating - gone.

I also know this isn't people's preferred way of intaking media. Most people will stick to what's popular, which right now is Instagram and TikTok and they will just scroll and if you're not posting on those platforms, people probably won't check in with your content.

But I personally recognize that a lot of times when I'm stressed and these headaches start to rise the worst thing that I can do is scroll on social media. And I've said for well over a year that I would love to have an in person business where I don't need to be constantly creating content to keep people in the know about what's going on but let’s face it social media is a tool for business.

I am very grateful that I have invested so much time and energy into social media since 2019 because I really feel like I have received so many blessings! I've met so many amazing people, and I wouldn't change my journey for anything.

But in terms of thinking about my physical and then mental health, I have to be honest with what and how I enjoy sharing content.

Like I love, and always have loved, writing long posts and if you've been here since the 2019 times then you know that I used to write really long captions on Instagram and Facebook.

But that has phased out and people don't necessarily want to read all of that on those quick scrolling platforms. Attention spans and dwindling and I don’t want to be lumped into that group in my own personal life, and my personal life and business life tend to overlap.

This doesn’t mean I’m leaving the other platforms at all, it just means I’m once again having to ask my body and mind - how do I want to share? Who do I want to share with? What is important for me to share and what do I share just to keep up with everyone else?

Social media is a tool, and we get to decide how we use it.
